Cheryl Burke Clears The Air About "Dancing With The Stars" Rigging Allegations

Let's face it, folks. There’s one thing that Cheryl Burke, the beloved pro dancer from "Dancing With the Stars," wants you to know: the show isn’t rigged. At 33, Cheryl has been part of this dance phenomenon for a whopping 20 seasons and recently opened up to Us Weekly about the rumors swirling around the competition.

Cheryl, who's been in the dance world for over a decade, made it crystal clear that the voting process is 50/50 between the judges and the fans. "The fans are a crucial part of the show. They want to feel like they're part of the journey," she explained. "If it were just up to the judges, I don't think as many people would tune in every week. You can never assume anyone is safe, even if they get a perfect score. That's why having a strong fan base is so important," Cheryl revealed in her candid interview.

For those who don’t know, Cheryl has not only danced her way to the top but has also won the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy twice. Her first victory was in Season 2 with Drew Lachey, and her second triumph came in Season 3 with NFL legend Emmitt Smith. But in Season 25, she and her partner, NFL star Terrell Owens, finished in sixth place. Even though they didn’t win, Cheryl said, “This year, the finale was bittersweet for me. Watching the show last week, I wished we were still in it, but we got very far and the show really did change Terrell’s life.”

Why Cheryl Took a Break Between Seasons

Even though Cheryl loves being on "DWTS," she decided to take a break between Seasons 20 and 22. Why? Because as a choreographer, it’s a constant challenge to come up with fresh ideas and routines that haven’t been done before. “That’s one of the reasons I left the show and took a break. I needed to feel inspired again and come up with new things creatively. I felt I needed to work on myself as a professional dancer, so I went to Argentina for three months to train. 'Dancing With the Stars' has been an evolution of so many different styles, and I feel like in order to keep your game up, you also have to be able to work on yourself,” Cheryl explained.

Looking Ahead: Cheryl's Excitement for the Finale

And guess what? Cheryl is super excited about tonight’s finale. She can’t wait to see how inspired she is during the final performances. "It’s been an amazing season, and I can’t wait to see who will take home the mirrorball!" she exclaimed. This season features some incredible talent, including Lindsey Stirling and Mark Ballas, Frankie Muniz and Witney Carson, and Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold in the top three. Cheryl gushed, “It’s been an amazing season and I can’t wait to see who will take home the mirrorball!”
