Will Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Receive A Royal Home As A Wedding Gift?

Alright, here's the scoop: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are tying the knot at Windsor Castle on May 19, and it seems they're in for a pretty amazing wedding present from a certain royal grandma. The buzz is that Queen Elizabeth may just gift the newlyweds a stately home after their big day. But hey, don’t hold your breath—it might take a little while.

Now, let’s rewind for a second. Prince William and Kate Middleton were handed over Anmer Hall—a stunning Georgian country house located on the Queen’s Sandringham estate in Norfolk, England—two years after their 2011 wedding. It happened just before the arrival of their first child, Prince George. This place wasn’t just a weekend getaway; it was originally planned as a full-time residence after a $2 million renovation. William and Kate called it home for four years before moving back to Kensington Palace full-time in September 2017 to prepare for George's first day at school.

So, what’s the deal? Will Her Majesty be just as generous for Harry and Meghan's big day? Royal expert Kelly Lynch had some insights to share with the Express: “Her Majesty gifted William and Kate Anmer Hall. I’m not sure how many more homes are available on the Sandringham Estate, but I wouldn’t be shocked if one was handed over to Harry and Meghan, especially since the royal family traditionally spends Christmas at Sandringham.”

“To be honest, having homes near each other at Sandringham wouldn’t surprise me. William and Harry are incredibly close, and I’m sure they would want their children to grow up together,” she added. York Cottage, currently used as the estate’s office, has been floated as a potential residence for Harry and Meghan. This would keep them close to William, Kate, and the Cambridge kids. But hey, the Sandringham estate spans 11 villages and includes over 150 residential, commercial, and agricultural properties, according to the official website. So, they’ve got plenty of options!

Meghan might be thrilled to hear that, despite the estate’s strict “no cats” policy, dogs are considered on a case-by-case basis for each house. Another potential option for Harry and Meghan could be a Windsor residence, keeping them closer to London. After all, Windsor holds special significance for the couple since it's where they'll be tying the knot.

“I wouldn’t rule out any available homes in Windsor, as that’s where Harry and Meghan will be getting married,” Kelly added. It was earlier reported that Harry and Meghan were house-hunting in the Cotswolds, eyeing a property near Soho Farmhouse, where they spent some quality time in the early stages of their relationship.
