Chip Spills the Beans on Baby Gaines’ Origin Story

Here’s the inside scoop from Chip himself: “Hint #3 You might recall a few months back.. the ever amazing, ever romantic @JOHNNYSWIM was in Waco,” he tweeted to his over 600,000 followers. “And they put on a little too romantic of a concert.. anyways, one thing led to another, & we are officially pregnant. And I could not be more EXCITED! #5 #7ThePerfectNumber.”

Now, you don’t have to be a detective to figure out what Chip was hinting at here. The couple clearly had an unforgettable evening at the Johnnyswim concert on Oct. 13 in their hometown of Waco, TX. If that night was indeed when baby No. 5 was conceived, then Joanna is roughly 20 weeks into her pregnancy. This puts her due date somewhere in July 2018. Can you believe it? The Gaines family is about to grow to seven!

Growing the Gaines Family: A Legacy in the Making

The Gaines are already proud parents to four amazing kids—Drake, 12, Ella, 11, Duke, 9, and Emmie, 7. Before announcing their exciting news, they teased that another addition to the family was on their minds. Chip, the ever-enthusiastic dad, said, “We had four babies right before the show started, and then we’ve had zero babies since the show started. For me, I’m really excited to go back and try to maybe… try to make some more babies.”

It seems Joanna needed a little more convincing. “Maybe. We have different answers,” she playfully added. But later, she admitted, “Emmie has never really wanted one, and now she’s like, ‘Okay. I want a brother or sister.’ So I’m thinking that might be a sign.” And we couldn’t agree more—sometimes kids know best!
