Let me tell you something interesting about Jason George, the beloved Grey’s Anatomy star. You might think the secret to his happy marriage with author-poet Vandana Khanna involves grand gestures or expensive vacations. But guess what? It's all about cauliflower. Yes, you heard that right—cauliflower.
Jason, who's 46 now, shared this quirky tidbit exclusively with Closer Weekly. He explained that cauliflower serves as their "safe word" during arguments. "When I yell, 'Cauliflower,' it's like a signal for us to stop arguing. We walk away, take a breather, and then come back ready to own our mistakes. And let’s be honest, the makeup sex is a beautiful thing!" Jason said with a smile. This unique approach to conflict resolution shows how humor and understanding can strengthen a relationship.
While cauliflower plays a significant role in their marriage, Jason also loves to express his affection through heartfelt words. His Grey’s Anatomy character, Dr. Ben Warren, is moving to the ABC spin-off, Station 19, but that hasn’t slowed down his romantic efforts at home. Jason shared that he enjoys writing love notes to Vandana, even though he jokes about not being as skilled as she is. "I’m no Shakespeare, but I think she appreciates the effort. Writing something heartfelt means a lot, especially when it comes from the heart," Jason laughed. It’s clear that Jason values creativity and sincerity in his relationship.

For fans of Grey’s Anatomy who are worried about missing Jason’s character, Dr. Ben Warren, fear not! There will be plenty of crossovers between Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19. Jason revealed in a previous interview that Ben will still pop up on Grey’s Anatomy from time to time. "And some of your favorite Grey’s Anatomy characters will also make appearances on the spin-off," Jason said. It’s a win-win situation for fans of both shows.
Jason explained that since both shows are set in Seattle, the crossover opportunities are endless. "Back in the days of Private Practice, the show was based in LA, so any crossover had to be a big event. But with Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy, it can be as simple as a casual hangout. 'Hey Avery, this is my friend from the firehouse,' or as grand as a mega-event spanning both shows. The writers have so much freedom to play around with these interactions," Jason added.
After seven incredible years on Grey’s Anatomy, Jason is thrilled about this new chapter in his career. Moving to Station 19 means staying within the Shondaland universe, which he loves. "What’s exciting about the firefighting spin-off is that firefighters are like a second family. They work 24-hour shifts together, eat together, and even sleep together under the same roof," Jason said. He points out that while the Grey’s Anatomy family deals with life-and-death situations in hospitals, the firefighters face different challenges. "When they make mistakes, it’s not just about losing a patient—it’s about losing a partner, a friend, or even a lover. That adds a whole new layer of intensity and drama to the show," Jason explained.
