Let me tell you about someone who's truly inspiring—Sheinelle Jones, the powerhouse behind NBC's Today. This isn't just any mom; she's a supermom juggling her career as a top broadcaster and raising three incredible kids: Kayin, Uche, and Clara, alongside her husband, Uche Ojeh. How does she do it? That's the million-dollar question.
Sheinelle has been a shining star at NBC since 2014, and she's made balancing her career and family life look almost effortless. Born and raised in Pennsylvania, she became a mom for the first time in August 2009 when Kayin entered the world. The twins, Uche and Clara, came into the picture in July 2012. Now that's what I call a full house!
Like many of her Today co-stars, Sheinelle isn’t shy about sharing the ups and downs of parenting while maintaining her professional life. She’s open about the challenges and the joys, making her relatable to so many moms out there. One of the things she’s candid about is finding time for herself, which is crucial for any parent.

“I try to only travel once a week for work, and you know what? Instead of fretting about not being there one night a week, I use that time as my 'mommy time'—my 'me time,' because frankly, I don’t get much of it!" she told Mommy Nearest back in May 2015. “There has to be some time where you feed yourself. I accept it when I’m on that flight—I close my eyes or watch a movie and I try to find the gift in that. I get a full night’s sleep, and when I come home, I feel like a better mom.”
Sheinelle’s kids are as full of life and personality as she is, and she often shares sweet moments with them on Instagram. She’s not afraid to reveal the real, relatable moments of motherhood, like the struggles of mealtime with her three little ones. Let's just say, feeding time can sometimes feel like a circus.
“Let’s say we’re making pasta. My 7-year-old has decided he doesn’t like meat all of a sudden—he’s a vegetarian unless it’s bacon,” she shared with People in July 2017. “And my 4-year-old son has decided that he doesn’t like pasta sauce, so he likes butter with noodles.” Sound familiar to anyone else out there?
Despite the challenges, cooking and sharing meals is one of the ways Sheinelle connects with her children. As they grow, she notices how they’ve inherited some of her personality traits, traits that have helped her succeed in her career.
“I remember my mom telling me to stop talking so much. Now, with three kids of my own, I guess they’re all just like me!” she joked with Parents in January 2021. “The good news is, perhaps they can turn it into a career like their mom did.”
Kayin, Sheinelle and Uche’s eldest son, is growing up so fast. In August 2022, Sheinelle celebrated Kayin’s milestone birthday on Instagram, sharing a heartfelt post about the impact he's had on her life. “Thirteen years ago today, this little guy changed my world and opened my heart in ways I didn’t even know was possible,” she wrote. “We had a small apartment in Philly when he was born. I placed his crib, right across from our bed. I remember — I would just stare into those innocent beautiful brown eyes.”

In the summer of 2022, Kayin attended camp, where he enjoyed swimming, hanging out at the beach, and spending quality time with his family. The bond between Sheinelle and Kayin is undeniable. In July 2021, she captioned a selfie with Kayin, saying, “He may be the oldest, but he’s still my first baby.”
In December 2024, Sheinelle brought Kayin along as her date to the White House holiday press party. “With each passing day, I am so thankful for moments like this,” she captioned a series of photos from the event on Instagram. “How handsome is my date? Thank you @whitehouse – for a magical night. To be here with my oldest son and work friends—who are more like family at this point—it was a night I hope he will cherish forever.”
However, in January 2025, Sheinelle missed several episodes of Today, prompting her to address her absence in a heartfelt Instagram post. “I sincerely appreciate all of you who have reached out while I’ve been absent from the show,” she wrote. “I want to share with you that I’m taking time to deal with a family health matter. It’s not lost on me how lucky I am to have the support of my Today show family, but also all of you. Your kindness means so much to me. I’ll see you soon. Love, Sheinelle.”
