Lara, who's now 55, shared a candid moment with her followers by posting a photo of herself alongside her surgeon, as well as a snapshot of her feet in the specialized boots. The left foot surgery, she explained, was tied to an accident from her college diving career. "I was attempting a reverse one and a half dive when I hit the board, shattering my toes and joints," she revealed. Back then, the medical options were limited, and Lara was told to simply tape it up, let it heal, and endure the pain.

Fast forward to today, and Lara is grateful for the advancements in medical technology. "Thankfully, times have changed, and there are much better options available now," she wrote. "I owe a huge thank you to Dr. Marty O’Malley at HSS for helping me get back on my feet—literally!"

Lara's positive attitude shines through in her caption, where she humorously noted that these boots were "made for walkin'—eventually." While she joked that they weren't quite cowboy boots, she expressed hope that she'd be back in her signature heels in about six weeks. In a January 11, 2023, post, she shared a workout video and captioned it, "I can’t put weight on my left leg for another five weeks, but if I'm lucky, I'll be back in action sooner. Even so, I’ll still be wearing this boot for another five weeks. But hey, I can still stay in shape in the meantime!"
