What Does Queen Elizabeth Do In Her Daily Life?

You’ve probably seen The Crown on Netflix, giving us a glimpse into Queen Elizabeth’s life decades ago. But what about now? What does the Queen do when she’s not celebrating her two birthdays each year, enjoying her Christmas tree well into February, or impressing everyone with her tech skills?

Well, let me tell you, she’s pretty busy. At 91 years old, Queen Elizabeth isn’t exactly sitting around sipping tea all day. According to The Telegraph, her daily schedule is packed with royal engagements, from parties and public appearances to diplomatic trips and award ceremonies. You might have seen her handing out honors to famous Brits like Elton John and Helen Mirren. She also plays a key role in military ceremonies as the Colonel-in-Chief of the armed forces and attends church events as the Supreme Governor of the Church of England. If you’re counting, she has a lot of titles.

Not only does she have a long list of royal duties, but she’s also the patron of over 600 organizations. That’s right, over 600! These range from the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust to the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust to the Lawn Tennis Association. She’s involved in a wide variety of causes, showing her dedication to making a difference in so many areas.

Queen Elizabeth: The Busiest Member of the Royal Family

With all these responsibilities, Queen Elizabeth is one of the busiest members of the royal family. In 2015 alone, she carried out 306 engagements in the UK and 35 abroad. That’s more than Prince Harry, Prince William, and Kate Middleton combined for that year. This great-grandma isn’t slowing down anytime soon!

Even though she opens each session of Parliament in person and consults with the Prime Minister and world leaders, her political power is limited. Technically, any legislation must receive her “Royal Assent” before becoming law, but it’s mostly a formality. No monarch has rejected a bill since Queen Anne back in 1707.

But let’s be honest, she doesn’t need political power to be influential. Her presence alone captivates us, and we’ll continue to watch her every move for as long as she keeps going. She’s a symbol of stability and tradition in a rapidly changing world.
