Let’s face it—when it comes to the royal family, drama is always just around the corner. A new book has sent shockwaves through Buckingham Palace, claiming that Queen Elizabeth once referred to Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, as a "wicked woman" and declared she wanted "nothing to do with her." This revelation comes from a time before Camilla married Prince Charles back in 2005, and it paints an intriguing picture of the inner workings of the royal family. Imagine sitting at the dinner table with that tension hanging in the air!
In a juicy excerpt from Tom Bower’s book, REBEL Prince: The Power, Passion and Defiance of Prince Charles, published by the Daily Mail, we learn that Prince Charles approached his mother in the summer of 1998 to discuss his complicated relationship with Camilla. At the time, the Queen was far from thrilled. She reportedly disapproved not only of their romance but also of the dissolution of Charles' marriage to the beloved Princess Diana. This was a heavy moment in royal history, one that clearly left a mark on the family dynamics.

Bower paints a vivid picture of that fateful evening when Queen Elizabeth, after a few martinis, made her feelings crystal clear. She allegedly told Charles she would not condone his infidelity or forgive Camilla for interfering in his marriage to Diana. According to Bower, the Queen was furious, saying, “I want nothing to do with her.” This was a pivotal moment that likely left Charles reeling.
Interestingly, Bower also claims that Camilla wasn’t exactly the favorite among other royals at the time. Queen Elizabeth’s mother, the Queen Mother, reportedly didn’t care for Camilla either. In fact, Charles and Camilla were only able to tie the knot after the Queen Mother passed away in 2002. Bower suggests that Queen Elizabeth never thought Charles and Camilla would marry during her lifetime—a testament to how strained their relationship was back then.
Fast forward to today, and things seem to have taken a positive turn. The 91-year-old Queen and Camilla, now 70, appear to have formed a closer bond, often appearing together at royal events. Camilla has also been warmly embraced by her stepsons, Prince William and Prince Harry. Harry, in particular, has spoken glowingly about her, saying, “She’s a wonderful woman, and she’s made our father very, very happy, which is the most important thing. William and I love her to bits.” It’s clear that Camilla has earned her place in the royal family over the years.
