Connie Francis Shares Her Journey Of Overcoming Adversity At Age 80

In a heart-to-heart chat with Closer Weekly, legendary pop icon Connie Francis talks about how she navigated through life’s toughest challenges to find genuine happiness at the ripe age of 80. The star of Where the Boys Are, Connie scored an impressive 15 Top 10 hits during the '50s and '60s, including timeless classics like “My Happiness,” “Lipstick on Your Collar,” and “Among My Souvenirs.” This last song shares its name with the massive (609 pages!) first volume of a new memoir she passionately worked on for seven years. “There are very few people in this world who have experienced the kind of exhilaration that I have on numerous occasions,” Connie confides to Closer.

Her Journey Through Life’s Ups and Downs

Despite the incredible highs of her career, Connie has faced her fair share of challenges. These include four divorces, the tragic murder of her brother Georgie in 1981, and a controlling father who interfered in her personal life, even ending her relationship with her true love, Bobby Darin. But if there's one thing that defines Connie Francis, it's her unyielding resilience. “If I had to take all the bad parts with the good, with the exception of my brother’s murder,” she reveals, “I would do it all again!”

At 80, Finding Peace and Happiness

Now in her eighties, Connie reflects on her life and acknowledges that she has come a long way in healing from her heartaches. She rates her life a solid seven on a scale of 1 to 10. “At the core, I’m happy. I have amazing friends who support me, and except for dealing with diabetes, I’m in great health. Every single day, I say a prayer of gratitude,” she shares openly with Closer.
