Princess Eugenie Joins Instagram: A Royal Step Into The Digital Age

Hey there, friends. If you thought Meghan Markle’s Instagram saga was the only royal social media story, think again. While Meghan had to part ways with her personal Instagram account, another member of the royal family has decided to dive headfirst into the world of social media. Enter Princess Eugenie, who officially joined Instagram on March 8, International Women’s Day. And let me tell you, she had some pretty inspiring reasons for making the leap. Scroll up to check out her very first post!

Within just 24 hours, the 27-year-old princess had already amassed an impressive 10,100 followers, and her debut post—a video—had nearly 15,000 views. Now, Eugenie’s following list is still pretty exclusive, with only 10 accounts gracing her list so far. Among them are her mom, the one and only Sarah Ferguson, the official British royal family account, and Kensington Palace’s account. But that’s not all—she’s also showing her support for several charities and organizations like Elephant Family and the European School of Osteopathy, which focus on orthopedic care and beyond.

    Princess Eugenie’s Heartfelt Mission

For Princess Eugenie, joining Instagram wasn’t just about staying trendy—it was about making a difference. The Princess of York has long been an advocate for scoliosis awareness, a cause close to her heart because she was diagnosed with the condition at a young age. In her first Instagram post, she shared a deeply personal video where she opened up about her journey with scoliosis. “When I was 12, I was diagnosed with and treated for scoliosis,” she revealed in the video. “I had two, 12-inch metal rods inserted into my back, and it could have drastically impacted my life. It might have stopped me from doing the things I love, but it didn’t.”

Her sister, Princess Beatrice, stood by her side during this emotional moment, offering her unwavering support. Eugenie addressed her older sister, saying, “You encouraged me not to get disheartened, not to give up. You taught me to live fearlessly. Today, I’m incredibly fortunate to be able to work with and support other young women going through similar experiences. I want to inspire them to not let their diagnosis define them. To live fearlessly, too.” Her message was clear: resilience and determination can overcome any obstacle. And as she concluded, she added, “So, We Day, our first lesson is never give up.”

    Wedding Bells Are Ringing

Now, with Eugenie’s wedding date officially set, we can’t help but wonder if she’ll share some behind-the-scenes glimpses of her big day on Instagram. The princess is tying the knot with Jack Brooksbank on Friday, October 12, 2018, giving us even more royal wedding excitement just after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle say “I do.” In a statement released on February 2, Eugenie’s dad, Prince Andrew, announced the joyous news: “The marriage of Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie to Mr. Jack Brooksbank will take place on 12th October 2018. As previously announced, the wedding will take place at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.” Talk about a royal celebration!
