Lorna Luft Diagnosed With Brain Tumor: A Family's Heartfelt Struggle

Hey there, it's a tough story I want to share with you. Singer Lorna Luft, the youngest daughter of the legendary Hollywood icon Judy Garland, has been diagnosed with a brain tumor. This news comes after she collapsed backstage during one of her performances. According to Lorna’s representative, Victoria Varela, the 65-year-old star fell ill on Friday, March 9, right in the middle of her show at London’s Pizza Express Jazz Club. Thankfully, her husband, Colin Freeman, was there to rush her to the hospital immediately.

Now, Colin, who married Lorna back in 1996, had already been concerned about his wife’s well-being. Varela told People that Colin noticed Lorna was having trouble remembering lyrics and parts of her monologue during the concert. After being admitted to the hospital, Lorna was initially diagnosed with a brain tumor. However, Varela mentioned that more details about her condition will emerge as Lorna undergoes further medical tests. It’s a tough situation, but the family is hoping for the best.

Lorna Luft is the only daughter of the late Judy Garland and Hollywood producer Sid Luft. The couple tied the knot in June 1952 and welcomed Lorna just a few months later in November. Alongside Lorna, Judy and Sid had a son named Joey Luft, who is now 62 years old. Additionally, the star of The Wizard of Oz had an older daughter, the incredibly talented singer Liza Minnelli, now 72, from her marriage to Vincente Minnelli.

Lorna herself is a proud mother to two adult children from her first marriage to the late musician Jake Hooker, which lasted from 1977 until 1993. Her son, Jesse Hooker, was born in 1984 and her daughter, Vanessa Hooker, was born in 1990. It’s clear that Lorna has built a beautiful family of her own while carrying on the legacy of her famous parents.

Health Challenges in the Garland Family

Lorna isn’t the only one in the Garland family to face health challenges in recent years. Her maternal half-sister, Liza Minnelli, has also battled health issues, including back problems and hip-replacement surgery. Thankfully, Liza’s good friend exclusively told Closer Weekly that Liza is in good health today and is even preparing for a career comeback. “Sometimes her back issues flare up, but she’s actually in really good shape. She’s in great vocal shape, too! She sings every day and is the most disciplined person I know,” the confidant shared. It’s heartwarming to know that despite the challenges, the family remains strong and resilient.
