Alright, let’s talk about something that’s been buzzing in the nostalgia corner of the entertainment world. Judith Light, the iconic star of the beloved '80s sitcom Who’s the Boss?, isn’t the one calling the shots when it comes to rebooting this classic series. The original show, which aired from 1984 to 1992, was a hit for a reason—it was heartfelt, funny, and groundbreaking for its time. Now, fans are wondering if the magic can be recaptured. So, what's the scoop?
In a recent chat with Entertainment Tonight, Judith (who played the feisty Angela Bower in the series) opened up about the possibility of reviving the show. You know, the series that also starred Tony Danza as Tony Micelli, Alyssa Milano as Samantha Micelli, Danny Pintauro as Jonathan Bower, and the unforgettable Katherine Helmond as Mona Robinson. But here’s the thing—Judith wasn’t exactly bursting with enthusiasm about a potential reboot.

“I don’t know,” Judith admitted to Entertainment Tonight. “Nobody’s really talked about it, and I don’t know. I mean, we’re all working. Tony’s got a show on Netflix, Alyssa’s working, Danny’s working, and you know, Katherine’s working, I’m not sure we’d be able to put it together. Nobody’s really talked about it, so I don’t know.”
Now, here’s where it gets interesting. Alyssa Milano, who played the spirited Samantha Micelli, seems to be on a different page. When Closer Weekly asked her about her thoughts on a reboot, she was much more optimistic. “I think we’re all open to it,” she said.
Alyssa, who’s now a mom of two, elaborated on why a reboot could be a great idea. “You know, we kind of all feel a specific way about it, which is what we did in 1983 was very forward-thinking— you know, it was a show about a single, divorced woman, mom, who was living with her very promiscuous mother, who also owned her own business, and that just wasn’t depicted on television at that time,” she explained. “And then she hired a dude to become her housekeeper, who was a single father— I mean, it was very progressive for that time period and what was on TV at that time, which was family sitcoms. So, really, I feel like we were like a Modern Family type of show, so keeping that in mind, I think we’d all be open to it if it lived up to what we did then.”
Interestingly, Alyssa revealed that she’s still close with her former co-stars. “I still talk to everybody! The only person who is a little difficult to keep in touch with is Katherine because she’s not on social media or e-mail or anything, she’s in her 90s, but I still communicate with her over the phone and I just saw her,” she shared. When asked who she keeps in touch with the most, Alyssa mentioned Tony Danza. “Probably Tony. He checks in all the time just to see how the kids are doing, he’s very sweet,” she said.
So, there you have it. While Judith may not be ready to jump back into the world of Who’s the Boss?, Alyssa is definitely open to the idea. Fans are hopeful that Alyssa can rally the troops and bring this iconic show back to life. Fingers crossed!
