Parenting is tough. Add a demanding career to the mix, and you’ve got a recipe for chaos. But for Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb, the anchors of NBC’s Today show, finding harmony between motherhood and work is not only possible but surprisingly fulfilling. In a recent interview with People, these powerhouse moms revealed how their grueling early-morning schedules actually work in their favor. “The beauty of waking up in the dead of night to go to work is that, by most afternoons, you’re back home,” Savannah explained. “Hoda and I get to spend countless hours with our kids, and let me tell you, that’s where our hearts truly lie.”
For many parents, the idea of starting work before sunrise might sound like a nightmare. But for Savannah and Hoda, it’s a blessing in disguise. Savannah, who shares two adorable children with her husband Michael Feldman—three-year-old Vale and one-year-old Charley—has found a rhythm that allows her to be both a dedicated mom and a top-tier journalist. “Our schedule is brutal, but it’s also a gift,” she said. “By the time I’m done filming, I can be home in time to watch my kids play, read them stories, and just soak in those precious moments.”
Hoda Kotb, whose life transformed when she adopted her daughter Haley Joy in 2017, echoed Savannah’s sentiments. “I’ve always been a hard worker, but now I know exactly what matters most,” she confessed. Hoda, who took on the role of Today co-anchor after Matt Lauer’s departure, admitted that motherhood has given her life a new sense of purpose. “Savannah and I may have come to motherhood later in life, but that’s what makes it so special. Waiting for something as meaningful as having a child makes you appreciate every single moment.”

Hoda went on to share how unexpected blessings can completely reshape your life. “Haley was one of those surprises you never fully anticipate. I wanted her, but I didn’t know if it would ever happen. And then, boom—she arrived and changed everything. It’s incredible how much joy she brings into my world.” Hoda, who shares custody of Haley with her longtime boyfriend Joel Schiffman, added, “There’s nothing like walking through the door and seeing her face light up. It’s a feeling I’ll never get tired of.”
Life is unpredictable, and Hoda knows that better than most. “So much of life happens without warning, and you just have to roll with it. But when something as beautiful as Haley comes into your life, you realize how lucky you are. She’s not just a child; she’s a gift.”
