Hey there, friends. With just a few months to go before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tie the knot, security around Kensington Palace is about to get a whole lot tighter. But things took a concerning turn recently when a letter filled with white powder and a racist message was reportedly sent to the couple at St. James Palace on February 12. The incident has prompted the police to launch a full investigation, not just into the letter itself, but also into the couple's overall security arrangements. This is serious stuff, and it's a reminder of the challenges that come with being in the public eye, especially when you're royalty.
According to reports from the Evening Standard, specialists rushed to the scene to test the substance. Initially, there was concern that the powder might be anthrax, a bacterial disease that can cause serious skin issues or even pneumonia. Thankfully, tests confirmed the substance was harmless. What's more, the mail was intercepted before it reached Harry or Meghan. Still, the couple was made aware of the situation, ensuring they're kept in the loop about any potential threats. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of thorough security measures for the royal family.
The Metropolitan Police shared with E! News, “Police are investigating after a package containing a substance was delivered to St. James’ Palace on Monday, Feb. 12. The substance was tested and confirmed as non-suspicious. Officers are also investigating an allegation of malicious communications which relates to the same package.” Interestingly, the very next day, on February 13, another package containing white powder showed up at the Palace of Westminster. The counter-terrorism command of the Metropolitan Police was called in both instances, trying to determine if the incidents were connected. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation continues.

Even before this unsettling incident, Meghan was reportedly seeking out a professional martial arts trainer to learn self-defense techniques back in December. A source told Entertainment Tonight, “Meghan will be trained in many different [areas], including what public places she should avoid, what she should do if she was ever approached and attacked in public, and how to release herself from a situation like that.” And let’s not forget, she’ll always have 24-hour royal protection by her side. This is the first security scare involving Meghan, who will officially join the royal family after the wedding on May 19, 2018, at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. Neither Harry nor Meghan have publicly acknowledged the suspicious letter so far.
